DimeStories storms Brooklyn on Saturday, November 7th at Barbes. Inaugural open mic combined with showcase readers and special musical/writer guest, Micheal Hearst! Hosted by the wowest emcee, Kimberly M. Wetherell who just bought a new gong! Bring your three-minute (when we say 3 we mean 3, not 4 or 5) prose to read. The evening will be recorded. All stories will be considered for posting to the website and for other DimeStories productions. This is a first installment in a regular series at Barbes that will take place the first Sunday of the month starting Dec 5th.
Showcase Readers include:
Marcy Krever, Brad Manzo, Ellen Meister , R.E. Neu, Susan O’Neill, Robin Slick, Rachel Shukert and Eber Lambert.
DimeStories San Diego’s Open Mic is now at the Ruby Room starting Friday, November 6th, 2009 at 7pm. Upstairs above the restaurant you’ll find all the readers and aficionados that you love. Downstairs you can order whatever you want to nosh, nibble or imbibe. Same 3 minutes, same time dominatrix, still sponsored by San Diego Writers, Ink. See you all there!
NEW VENUE STARTING NOW! DimeStories OC has found a new home and the move in date is November 8th.
610 N Coast Hwy
Laguna Beach, CA 92651-1526
Second Sunday November 8th. Sign-ups are at 4:30 and readings start at 5pm. Don’t miss the start of another great year.
We hope you’ll bring a story, because best of all–we’ve reached our techno dream with our own recording equipment. Polish your teensy tales to a nice shine because each month the best stories will be posted on the DimeStories website so your mom can listen to it over and over.
If you’ll be there, or even if you won’t, leave a comment, and tell us what you love about DimeStories!
Last Friday, October 2 at the Swedenborgian Hall DimeStories Original Open Mic celebrated it’s 5th birthday!! Over 75 people joined us, with 40 magnificent readers (whew!) among them. Giveaway prizes included tickets to the Old Globe Theatre, and a wild and furry CD collection, as well as tote bags and past SDWInk anthologies. But best of all! We had cake!
If you were at the party, leave a comment and tell us what your favorite reading was, what you heard said about the festivities, what you saw (who was making out in the kitchen?), who you would love to hear more from and why you like to go to these DimeStories events.
Leave a comment, tell us what you think, what you see that you like, what you think we could improve on, and just how much you love all these colors! Or just leave a comment about anything at all. Just don’t complain about your mother, your grandmother or your spouse. Save that for another blog.
